Every day
A while back, Morgan made up a little song that went "I love you all the time, all the time". If I would say, "I love you", she'd say, "I love you all the time". Now, her new phrase is "I love you every day". I tell her I love her and she says, "I love you every day" and it just melts my heart!

So deprived
Morgan was doing her usual talking as I was trying to put her to bed. She said, "Mommy, did you eat Mum-Mums when you were a little girl?" I said that they didn't make Mum-Mums when I was little. She didn't seem to understand my response and I explained, again, that they just didn't have them, when I was little. She came across the bed, hugged me and said, "Ohhhhh, poor Mommmmmmmmy!"
Impressed!
I was sitting at the table with Morgan and I was reading a Wilton decorating book. There was an error in the recipe (the instructions said to mix in an ingredient that wasn't in the ingredients list). Anyway, I corrected the recipe with my pen and Morgan asked what I was doing. I told her that I had found a mistake in the book and was correcting it. She said, "I'm IMPRESSED!" Ha!

Stalling, stalling...
Morgan has been "making me" lie in bed with her, as she tries to go to sleep, but she talks and talks and talks...here are some excerpts: (M=Morgan, S=Me)
M: What is a period?
S: It's a punctuation mark that tells you when the sentence is done.
M: It's a circle!
M: Remember on Little Bear when the can of paint falls on his head and they ask, "Are you all white?" (She laughs loudly) That was pretty funny!
M: Let's sing a song together and maybe that will help me fall asleep...(She begins a round of "Twinkle, Twinkle" and I join in...)
M: I want to dream about butterflies and rainbows, but no sun, because it's too bright...
S: You need the sun's light to have a rainbow.
M: Oh, OK, then...
M: I want to hold you for a while (proceeds to put me in a head lock...)
M: Can you say, "1...2...3...4"?
S: 1...2...3...4
M: Good job, Mommy, you did it!! Can you say "1...2...3...4...5"?
S: 1...2...3...4...5
M: OK, can you say "1...2...3...4...5...6?
(This pattern continues on all the way up to 12, at which point she counts up to 19, then I say 20 and she counts to 29 and I say 30, etc., all the way to 80...)
S: 3 more minutes and I have to go...
M: NO! 4 more minutes...5 more minutes...!
S: 1 more minute...
M: OK, 3 more minutes...
(Of course, she does not let me go after the 3 minutes passed...)
M: Mommy, I love you. I love you every day.
S: I love you every day, too, Sweetie Baby.
M: (gives me a squeeze) Awww, Mommy, you're so cute!
This is how she gets me!

Texas is BIG!
Morgan and I were talking about countries and states. She said, "We live in Texas. Texas is BIG. It's a really big piece on the puzzle and that's why it's called Texas, because it's BIG!"

Thank you, my lovey...
Morgan wanted to pick out her reward sticker, but I had already peeled one off and she was about to get upset and I said, "when you receive a gift, you need to just say 'thank you', My Lovey" (I sometimes call her My Lovey...) Then, she said, "Thank you, My Lovey"...She didn't realize that I was calling HER "My Lovey" and thought I was telling her to say that, all together...

Love Bits and Bites
I took Morgan with me to HEB and she is always a perfect angel and I'm always so grateful. Today, she was being her usual angelic self, and she leaned over and grabbed me and was hugging me. I had to hunch over a little and try and keep pushing the cart. She put her mouth on my arm and I thought she was trying to kiss my arm. The next thing I knew, I felt TEETH IN MY ARM! :O She was biting me! I asked her to stop, quietly, because I didn't want to yell in HEB, but she didn't stop. She came so close to breaking the skin, but I touched her cheek and asked her again to stop. She opened her mouth and I had a huge bite mark on my arm. She looked down and said "what happened to your arm??" I told her that she bit me and I said I couldn't believe it and she said, "we eat food, not people". Ha! Yes, I do believe I told her that once upon a time. She totally didn't realize what she had done and then asked if she could kiss it. She said, "when Daddy gets home, I need to tell him that I bit Mommy and that's a No-No". I said that was a BIG NO-NO and she said, "No, it's a little no-no"...I told her it was a BIG NO-NO and that we don't bite anyone, especially Mommy.
The rest of the day was better, though...
We've been having some issues with Morgan being a bit bossy, lately, and I was trying to explain things to her. We had a discussion over "polite vs. rude", and "nice vs. mean". I was putting her to bed and as I lay there in bed with her, she's talking about all kinds of things. I stroked her hair and she said, "DON'T TOUCH MY HAIR!" in a stern tone. Then, she paused and said sweetly, "please..." I realized she was trying to be polite, because I told her it would be a lot nicer if she said "please" after "telling" someone what to do. I told her I appreciated her being nice about it and saying please. Then, she proceeded to tell me all about what we discussed earlier. She was saying, "it's polite to say please and thank you when you want something...like water, milk...or anything!" I thought I was going to cry. I couldn't believe how happy I felt at the thought that she had actually listened to me. So many times I feel like I'm not getting through or that she's not paying attention.
Another sweet moment was when she was snuggling with me and she was stroking my hair and she said, "your hair is beautiful"...Aw, she is such a Sweetie, when she wants to be!

White crayon
I have a scar on my left arm and Morgan was asking about it. I also have a more recent scar on my right arm, from a burn. I told her that it was brown, because the scar was newer and the one on my left arm had faded to white, over time. She said, "I'll be right back...I'm going to get a white crayon..." I asked her why and she said, "for your burn, to color it white..." Ha!

Science before bed...
There was a rainstorm, tonight, and Morgan was asking all kinds of questions..."What makes the thunder make noise?"..."What makes the lightning in the clouds?"..."What happens to the rain clouds after they drop all their rain?" Greg and I were doing our best to answer all her questions, as she was nodding her head and saying, "Oh, OK, uh huh..." It's funny how she asks so many complicated questions, just as we're trying to wind her down for bed...

Krinkles
I wasn't feeling too well and Morgan wasn't cooperating with putting on a Pull-Up, and I asked her to be still and she said, "when you make that face, it makes 'krinkles' in your forehead like THIS" and proceeded to try and scrunch her forehead. I said, "do you mean wrinkles?" and she said, "yeah, it rhymes with sprinkles!" Then, she started singing a song about "wrinkles and sprinkles". I'm glad she was amused. ;)
What is that smell?
I was in the kitchen making dinner and Morgan walked up and said, "Ewwww, something smells bad!" and I said, "what smells bad" and she said, "what you're cooking!" (It was red bell peppers and broccoli...)

Windy Day
It's windy today and Morgan was playing in the back yard and I was talking to her at the door and she said, "Mommy, you better go inside so you don't blow away!" :)

We just can't help saying it...
We've heard and read that you shouldn't call your child "smart", for various reasons, but apparently, we can't help ourselves. Morgan was doing all kinds of things, this morning...writing the number 10 in a counting workbook, making these bracelets out of beads and pipecleaners (Greg showed her how, but she made them really fast and all by herself, when he wasn't even in the room.) We were Ooohing and Aaahing over her creation. She went over to the table to play with dominoes, and she began talking, as if we were talking, saying, "Oh my goooooooodness! You are smart!"
She does listen to me!
I have been taking boxes of old clothes, toys and shoes to donation stations, lately, and explaining to Morgan that we were passing along our things to those who don't have any. This morning, she found a pair of teeny tiny baby shoes that I missed while cleaning, and she said, "Mommy, we need to take these!" I said, "To where?" and she said, "to the babies who don't have any!" *sniff*

Big Girl Bed
Yesterday, Morgan was over at my parents' house and she climbed out of her crib, onto the adjoining bed. So, we picked her up and took her bed shopping. We got a Queen bed (since we hope it last her for years to come.
She slept pretty well in it (only waking at 5:00 and around 6:45am). She did say, though, that she didn't want the new bed, because Dolly wouldn't stay on her eye. See, in her crib, she liked to sleep wedged up against one side and she would prop Dolly over her eyes. Now, there's nothing to wedge up against and she's having to adjust.
